Welcome to the first edition of my ‘Dummies Guide to Futures’ substack.
What’s the first thing you think of when you hear “CFDs”, “Day Trading”, “Futures Trading” or “Index Trading”? (I’ll use these terms interchangeably moving forward)
For most people, phrases like - ‘Risky’, ‘Dangerous’, or ‘Gambling’ would come to mind, which is why the vast majority of traders are stuck in the ‘Stocks Only’ or ‘Long Only’ box.
While these terms can be valid to varying degrees, my aim with this publication is to change this perception, and with a bit of education and strategy, add some phrases like ‘Hedging’, ‘Risk Management’ and ‘Income’.
Every week I’ll be diving deep into the world of Contracts for Difference, or “CFD” and Index Trading, with a particular focus on education, and trading indices as a means of generating some side income, and/or building long-term wealth through leveraged buy and hold strategies. You’ll learn that markets behave irrationally ALL THE TIME, giving experienced traders significant opportunities to profit. With a mix of enthusiasm, proper education, trade framework and trading discipline, it’s possible to become a profitable trader in a reasonable period of time.
Over the last 20 years, I’ve traded over $5Bn worth of CFDs across FX, Stocks and Indices throughout all stages of the market cycle; fortunate enough to sometimes survive and sometimes thrive through Booms, Busts, Trends and Sideways moves.
My core message to traders and investors is that while Index Trading is most certainly NOT for the vast majority of people, for those with the brains, passion to learn, and the right tools, you can make an income from day trading.
If you're new to CFDs, don't worry, I'll be covering the basics in easy-to-understand language so that you can start the journey with confidence. I'll also be sharing some of my own experiences, strategies, and insights gained from years of trading CFDs in all kinds of markets.
So if you're ready to learn something new, or level up your existing stock trading to the next level, let's get started!
Cheers
